Programme

The Conference will consist of three half-day technical‑scientific sessions and a technical visit.
Each session will include two state-of-the-art lectures, delivered by national and international keynote speakers.
These lectures will set the stage for a roundtable discussion involving key stakeholders, focusing on new research horizons and challenges of common interest, with potential for the development of public policies and stakeholder strategies.
The programme also includes two moments addressing “Stakeholders’ strategies and challenges”, where participants will have the opportunity to discuss the main challenges in managing geohazard risks and share strategies for building a more resilient society.

    • Systemic nature of risk: networks and interdependency of infrastructures and services
    • Built environment, historical centres and cultural heritage
  • Structural health monitoring and emerging technologies
  • Modelling and monitoring cascading impacts and systemic risk
  • Acceptable and tolerable levels of risk for stakeholders

SESSION 3 Building societal resilience

  • Disaster resilience and EU policies
  • Science contribution to disaster risk management (DRM) governance
  • Quantitative assessment of resilience
  • Increasing resilience over the disaster cycle
  • Linking social and physical vulnerability
  • Smart cities and digital twins
  • Risk communication, citizen science and public participation in DRM
  • The role of insurance and reinsurance in societal resilience
