About the Tour

The Water4All 360° Experience Tour is an exciting initiative designed for bachelor students, funded by the Water4All Partnership.

This immersive program offers students a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge water technology, sustainability practices, and innovative solutions in the water sector.

Through hands-on experiences, educational workshops, and interactive tours of leading water facilities, students will gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities within the industry.

The 360° Tour aims to inspire the next generation of water professionals by connecting them with experts, fostering collaboration, and encouraging careers focused on water sustainability, with the tour topic covered by the Water4All Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA).

Fully Funded Experience

The tours are free of charge, with accommodation and flight tickets to the tour locations fully funded for the students, ensuring accessibility and enabling participants to focus on learning and networking without financial barriers.

Water Experience at LNEC - National Laboratory for Civil Engineering:

  • Welcome to LNEC.
  • Visit to LNEC's water Research Infrastructures.
  • Lecture on water and wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Water reuse strategies and impact on receiving waters.
  • Presentation of selected results from LNEC's R&I projects.
  • Visit to UQTA - Water Quality and Treatment Laboratory of LNEC.
September 2nd

Water Experience in urban water reuse:

  • Visit to FA Beirolas of AdTA - Águas do Tejo Atlântico, an urban wastewater treatment plant.
  • Visit to Parque Tejo-Trancão, a green park managed by the Lisbon municipality and irrigated with reclaimed water produced at FA Beirolas.
  • Visit to the Tagus River, where the treated effluent is discharged.

September 3rd

Water Experience at UÉvora - University of UÉvora:

  • Travel from Lisbon to UÉvora.
  • Welcome to UÉvora and presentation of the Tour Experience challenge.
  • Participation in the workshop "Climate change, cultural and Natural Heritage".
September 4th

Water Experience in water management:

  • On-site visits to Alqueva Dam operator - case study.
  • Participation in Research networking and contribution to sustainable development goal 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation - Water4All session.
September 5th

Water Experience in water management:

  • Working group session.
  • Participation in Round Table IV Youth for Sustainability and Human Rights event.
  • City tour.
Program Notes:
  • All activities will be conducted in English
  • Detailed daily schedule will be provided upon arrival
  • Program subject to minor adjustments based on operational requirements

How to Apply?

Submissions close June 20th, 2025

Requirements
  1. Second- or third-year bachelor's degree students(BSc) in (process) engineering, environmental technology, natural and environmental science (e.g. biology, ecology, geology, chemistry) and related fields at EU universities within the EU.
  2. All the activities will be in English language, so ensure the clarity, the bachelor student shall have an English minimum level of B2 "confident English speaker".
  3. Submit their application (CV, grades transcript and a motivation letter) by the link provided below for each 360° Water Experience Tours.

Fully Funded Experience

About Water4All Partnership

The Water4All Partnership - Water Security for the Planet - is a funding programme for scientific research in freshwater.

It aims to tackle water challenges to face climate change, help to achieve the United Nations´ Sustainable Development Goals and boost the European Union´s competitiveness and growth. It is co-funded by the European Union within the frame of the Horizon Europe programme.

Water4All is structured around five operational Pillars covering the whole research and innovation chain and supporting a wide portfolio of multi-national and cross-sectoral activities. Pillar C is dedicated to Science - Policy - End-users Interface and consists of four tasks, of which Task C.3 is dedicated to "Fostering capacity development of all actors". Task C.3 aims to increase capacity building of the water research and innovation community by the implementation of PhD schemes, mobility programmes, and vocational training.

This 360° Water Experience Tour is part of Subtask C.3.2.b, focused on "Engage and inspire Generation Z towards water challenges and solutions", providing networking platforms for bachelor students through water-related tours.
